Memories are made to last a lifetime and photographs are made to last even longer, especially with today's digital technology. Photos and videos of your wedding are priceless reminders of the beauty of the day and the love that you and your husband share with family and friends, so consider it a wise investment if you take the time and energy to find the perfect professional. Here are some things to consider before you're ready for your close-up:

  • Be sure the photographer has done your kind of wedding before. If your wedding will be held outdoors, make sure the photographer has done an outdoor wedding and knows how to adapt to changing light conditions.
  • Be sure they can work your site. Some photographers will not do beach weddings because of the potential damage to their equipment.
  • Discuss what they will wear. If you're not having a formal wedding, where the standard tuxedo would be worn, talk to the professional about your wishes for his or her wardrobe.
  • Ask about the photographer's transportation needs. Inform them of any travel needs for the wedding day, such as ceremony and reception sites at long, difficult distances from each other.
  • Be sure to get a cell phone number for contact on your wedding day - or in case they get lost on that long difficult ride from ceremony to reception site!
  • Specify times you'll need them and when and where they should show up on the morning on the wedding.
  • Find out how long it will take to get your proofs and albums back. A good photographer has a fast turnaround time, depending on the type of film you've used.
  • Be sure they are open to your personal suggestions and instructions and are not set in their way of doing things.
  • Very important: specify the amount of time they have to take post-ceremony photos. You don't want to miss half your reception because you're taking an endless line-up of shots.
  • Hurry, the party's about to begin!
