While planning your wedding,
chances are you will see little
of your husband- or wife-to-be. Between appointments with photographers,
fittings for gowns, and food-tastings with
caterers, there is little time to grab dinner and
a movie like you used to. Just because you're
getting married doesn't mean you have to stop
"dating" each other. Since most engagements
can last a year or more, it's important to make
a date with your significant other to do some
things that are not related to the wedding. Spending the day at a spa is not only a great
way to get some quality time together, but also
a way to relieve stress. Incorporating a spa experience into the days
leading up to your wedding can be as simple as
booking a facial or as elaborate as scheduling
a daylong experience. Spa treatments run the
gamut and each spa has its specialty. You can
always get the staples - massage, facial,
manicure or pedicure - but don't be afraid
to try something out of the ordinary. From
aromatherapy to airbrushed tans, make sure
you take advantage of everything spas have to
offer. Most spas offer some form of
aromatherapy, a popular technique used in
some spas to promote the health of your body,
mind, and spirit. According to the National
Association for Holistic Aromatherapy,
aromatherapy has been proven to help with
a variety of emotional conditions including,
frustration, anxiety, and panic. It also can
help with many skin conditions, such as acne,
cellulite and wrinkles. If you want to have a refreshed look
on your big day, try one of the many
exfoliating techniques used at spas. From
microdermabrasion to salt scrubs, these
treatments bring out your skin's glow. Follow
that with an airbrushed tan and the two of you
will walk out looking refreshed, not stressed. Grooms take heed: Don't be afraid of
what lies beyond the spa doors. Once thought
to be a girl-thing, spa treatments now include
men's facials, massages, and manicures, and
it's not at all uncommon to come across a
group of guys getting manicures on a Saturday
afternoon. And massages can and should be
enjoyed by everyone. If you are a sports buff,
certain spas specialize in sports massages
where specific muscles are targeted to prevent
soreness and ease tired joints. Aside from relaxing and pampering, the
most important reason you are at the spa is to
spend time together. Many spas offer couples
a package where you can get massages,
facials and just about any other treatment
side-by-side. You will both leave the spa
feeling rejuvenated, looking great and ready
to continue on the path to your wedding day.
