SPRING/SUMMER 2004

Looks for men are debonair, smooth and sophisticated with a lot of James Bond feel...

Men seldom subscribe to the tremendous emotional fashion roller coaster as do women involved in the bridal party. Women tend to be more intense about fashion than men. Whether the wedding is black tie formal to smart casual informal, be sure of this: Check that socks match and shoes are shined. It's a guy thing.

As for the wardrobe, flip through any bridal magazine and you'll see sharp dressed male models with chiseled jaws and piercing eyes standing confidently in black or gray tuxedos. Tear yourself away from those eyes for a second and notice the details of the tuxedo: those pinstripes in barely there color, the shine of the fabric, the line of the lapel. Top fashion designers for men provide the most current directions in suit cuts and colors, and the growing trend in male wedding-wear rightly follows the same upscale looks in tuxedo design and details.

Formality Guide Ultraformal Evening: Usually a "white tie" wedding; black tailcoat and pants, white wing-collar shirt, black vest, white bow tie, gold or silver cufflinks and accessories. Ultraformal Daytime: Gray pinstriped pants, gray cutaway coat, gray vest, white wing collar shirt, gray tie or ascot, appropriate cufflinks. Formal Evening (most common): Usually a "black tie" wedding. Black tuxedo, white wing-collar shirt, black vest or cummerbund, black bow tie, cufflinks.

GROOM'S GUIDE

Formal Daytime: Black or grey tuxedos or tailcoats with matching pants, matching vest, white spread-collar shirt or wing-tipped shirt, black or gray (to match) tie, ascot or fourin- hand, cufflinks.

Semiformal Evening: Dark suit or dark tuxedo with matching vest (white jacket appropriate for summertime), long tie, white shirt with wing - or turned-down collar - accessories.

Semiformal Daytime: Suits work well - black, navy or gray - plus white jackets in summertime, white shirt, tie optional.

Informal: Suits are fine, as are khaki pants with white shirts and navy blazer, as is dress to fit the theme of informal weddings.

Ultra Informal: Everything from linen to Hawaiian shirts. As long as it is crisp and smart and works with your theme, then the sky is the limit for how you'll dress your men.
